am I just too sensitive?

This is kinda a lazy pic post; but there are a few things wrong. So, they're wrong, but I've gotta admit, still a lil funny.

So, for my b-day, I had to re-register my cars. Who says ya don't get anything for $50 now-a-days. Lookit... I got these 2 cute lil black stickers for $100! The lady offered to give me a sticker that doesn't expire til May 2010 for just an extra $50. I declined.

Next up... I got this lovely letter in the mail to remind me that I'm now "of a certain age". Yeah, it's nice to save money, but couldn't they just say that they're giving me a refund b/c my "hair's a bit longer"? Or, b/c they're excited that shrugs are no longer in style?

I trust there's one on the way to me for my 2007 Corolla too?
~fingers crossed~

And last up, I saw this on one of my MyYahoo! pages. I have multiple MyYahoo pages set up by categories. Anyway, I thought this was a lil inappropriate.

heehee.... he said huckleberry

Now for another installment of conversations in real-life:

My dad talkin to my sister on speaker-phone w/ my mom & me. He's trying to describe an actress to her.

pappa: She looks like that woman... you know... from the James Bond movie...... Huckleberry.

my sis: huh? Huckleberry?

mom: HALLE BERRY!!!

hee hee. Yeah, not much, but it kinda cracked me up. Cause we all know my history w/ Halle Berry.

me & my cultured self

Ah, yes…. What have I been up to? Well, being the east-sider that I am now, last week I went to an orchestra concert AND the opera.

Yeah, ya heard me.

The orch concert was amazing; there's nothing quite like hearing a full orchestra live in a great hall. That was Wed night. Then, Sat night, I went to see La Bohème at Playhouse Square downtown. Just us gals went; there were supposed to be 6 ladies, but 2 had to back out.

By the time the lights went up for the 2nd intermission, I was just bawling. We had to go out to get tissues b/c 2 of us were just in tears. Thank goodness for waterproof mascara, no?

Tomorrow night, one of my fabulous friends arranged for all of us to go see John Caparulo at Playhouse Square. My friends are really the best! We are going to be in the 2nd row for a show that's being taped to dvd for Comedy Central?!?!!? Are you kiddin me? I just love my friends.

Not for that, per se, but b/c they really are great. I've been a Ms. Cranky-Pissy-pants lately, & they've dealt with me accordingly.

I'm also excited that we're going to Bricco before the show. They just opened it up here, across the street from Playhouse Square, & I was there just last Sat after the girls & I left the opera. It's totally fab, so I can't wait!

hello... glass house anyone?

Oh, you tough football boys crack me UP! Thanks for this, though. I did need a laugh today.

I mean, whatev, maybe they are piping in extraneous noise. I just really don’t think the Pats are in any position to point fingers at any other team right now. Sorry, kids, but you kinda forfeited that right when y’all went shady.

Not that all the football teams aren’t being shady. Cause they’re all pulling something. They are guys, after all.

Now I’ve gotta stay up late to see what Dave’s gonna say about this. Cause Dave films his show around 4-ish, & the story’s out already, & the Colts are his team.

*click on the pic to go to the story. Oh, & ProFootballTalk.com has audio of it.

UPDATE: Dave's in reruns this week due to the Writer's Strike. So, I'll be in bed by 9:30 pm (since I only got about 4 ½ hours last night).

why ask?

Ok, so this might be like 15 years late in my asking this....

But we've all heard that lil tongue twister....

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Um.... who came up w/ this? Why ask?

If it can't chuck wood, it's like saying
"how many years can you go w/out breathing air if you could go years w/out breathing air?"
So, this just is the randomness that pops into my head that I normally don't share w/ anyone ever.

But I'm just posting it now cause I'm off to Cinci for a day & a half, & I wanted the 'Bron off the top of my page. Peace out yo.

I'm bloody finicky

You guys don't know this about me, but I'm pretty picky. I like to call it "particular". But basically, it can be seen as high-maintenance to some. But I'm even high-maintenance for myself. But I'll do the extra work for myself to make things the way I like it, b/c I'll enjoy it more that way.

Quick example? I like my Bloody Mary's made from scratch. Yes, it means mixing up like 7 different ingredients, but it's way better than any "mix".

I've also had a rough last 2 days. Well, last 5 days really. But b/t yesterday & today at work, I seriously thought it had to be Thurs already, b/c I've already done so much.

And I emailed w/ my girls today, like I occasionally do. Whatever, don't judge me, y'all email your friends while working too. And besides, it keeps me saner than otherwise. So, anyway, after my long, stressful day, I noticed that my bff had left a million comments on some pics I had online, & I emailed her to see if she'd done any work today at all. This is why I love my girl. Her response made me chuckle.I would also post some of the other emails that led up to this, b/c we've been emailing all day about absolutely nothing. I don't think I'd ever post that stuff b/c it's not really appropriate material for this blog. But I can tell you it involves TMZ, Channing Tatum, & Cristiano Ronaldo. Yeah. Oh, & telemundo.

But the point is that she's right; it does ask if you're all fussy & stuff at the bottom. And I have filled out tons of Yahoo surveys b/c I am fussy about all that stuff. And I'm a Yahoo-enthusiast & want to make sure they do things the way I like it.

Yeah, so I didn't have a real post today (um, remember at the beginning when I told you how crazy busy I was?). But I did think it was funny that Yahoo decided to put that add at the bottom of my email to her.

pimping my old gay posts

So, I really posted today about the whole Tucker fiasco (below). But once you read it, you're gonna be all worked up & mad at stupid ppl. And let's face, most ppl are stupid.

So, I'm linking to myself so that you can all go back in time (via l'archive de moi), & read a funny. Click below:

Oh, & check out this article I found:

It mentions how in medieval France, they had a term "affrerement" (like brotherment) that served as a legal contract. They "pledged to live together sharing 'un pain, un vin, et une bourse' -- one bread, one wine, and one purse."

Anyway, it's also an interesting article. So, check it yo.

stop squirrelling around

haha, get it? Squirrel-ling around? Squirrel? heehee. hahaha.

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a silly mood this morn. So, you wanna know what I saw yesterday? Well, I was on the phone w/ Mr. T; so I went out to our patio area at work so I can talk to him in peace. Yesterday was a pretty warm day here in Cleve. It was probably like 95-98 w/ the heat index factored in.

Just like 3 feet in front of me is this drainage thing (b/c they really do over-water the foliage here). It was in the shade, so I figured the metal had to be all niiiiice & coooool. Why else would this squirrel decide to sprawl himself out on it? This sight really cracked me up.Oh, & I just got a new phone a couple of weeks ago. It's the LG enV and it’s just the coolest thing EV-ER. It’s got an amazing camera on it, & the pic above was taken on my cute new lil camera phone. Did I mention it’s orange? So. CUTE! I’m calling it butternut though, I have a wallet that’s orange too, but on the label, it didn’t say orange, it said butternut. So, since the phone matches the wallet ex-act-ly, I’m calling the phone butternut too.

See? Now you get it. Squirrelling around! heehee.

resenting authorities everywhere

I know I'm not being a posting machine; it's only cause I have a lot of stuff going on, & have no time. I get up early in the morn for work, don't really return home until 10 pm (or later, or the next day sometimes), & have barely anytime to do anything. I'm thankful for the day off work tomorrow b/c it means I can do laundry & have some clean clothes again. I'm also thankful for Mr. T, cause he did all my dirty, dirty dishes. And there were quite a few.

Even though I'm not posting, I'm still reading y'all's blogs & the news. So, I saw an article about Oliver Stone requesting to make a documentary about Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Well, the Iranian prez rejected the offer b/c Stone is part of "Great Satan" cultural establishment.

The media advisor to the Prez said, "I sent a negative answer by Ahmadinejad to Oliver Stone.... It is right that this person is considered part of the opposition in the U.S., but opposition in the U.S. is a part of the Great Satan."

This is all fine & good. If someone thinks someone else is a Great Satan, then of course they would want nothing to do w/ that person.

*total sidenote: I think I'm really digging that term "Great Satan"... there's this whore that I completely hate (like really hate as a human being, seriously). And, I have a name I call her, but it's way worse than whore (whore being the more publishable word; & no, it doesn't involve the 'f' word, it's waaaay worse). But I think I will also start to refer to her as a "Great Satan".

Anyway, the whole point of this post is what Oliver Stone said in response. I found it quite funny.

"I have been called a lot of things, but never a great satan. I wish the Iranian people well, and only hope their experience with an inept, rigid ideologue president goes better than ours."
The pic to the left is of from Feb 2002 when Stone spent 3 days w/ Fidel Castro for his documentary of him, Comandante. I think it's a cool looking picture. And the pic above is my montage of finger pointing that cracks me up. It's really only there for me, b/c I'm sure no one else will find it as funny as I do.

My life as a 12-year old girl

Today’s post is actually 2 separate installments of my real-life conversations. One actually happened during the month of January, & the other yesterday. While I consider myself extremely intelligent, sometimes I realize I come off as a 12-year old girl. The following are examples of these circumstances.

In January, my parents decided to leave us visit India for a month. Yes, they took off for a month-long vacation to India. During this time, I took over their guardian role for my teenage brother. He’s in high school, so I took him to a college day thing, & I was in charge of cooking dinner, making sure he ate*, did homework, & also the fun job of chauffeuring him to & fro his important high school activities. On one such occasion, I was to pick him up from a group study session (or group project, or something):

[I pull up & he comes out of the building. As he approaches the car, a Justin Timberlake song comes on the radio.]
Me: Ooouuu, you lucked out! This JT song just began.
Him: Uh, I don’t like Justin Timberlake.
Me: Oh, so maybe you’re not so lucky. [as I proceed to turn the volume up.]
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

At work yesterday, this woman called me & gave me her address so that I can send her something. She lives in Arlington, VA; right next to the nation’s capitol.

Me: so that’s xxx Garfield Street? Garfield, as in the cat?
Her: uhhh….
Me: [light bulb going off]Um, I guess that’s probably Garfield, as in the president, huh? [realizing that a street named Garfield next to the nation’s capitol is named after a former prezzie, not a kitty.]
Her: Yeah, it’s Garfield like the president.

my gay Christmas

So, I put a smile on some truck driver's face this morn. Wanna know how? I was rockin out in my car to my gay Christmas music. Last night, I went through my cds & found what I was looking for. My fave Christmas mix that I made a few years back.

So, I was totally rockin out in my car. Dancin in my seat, boppin my head, shakin all around, & singin my own harmonies when their was just music & no words. This is 'how I do' when I'm by myself.

But it makes me happy. And I know this pickup truck driver was one of the construction ppl who's having a hard time getting the project they're working on done, b/c they keep getting bothered by ppl who know nothing (that reminds me of Schultzie from Hogan's Heroes "I know NUTT-THING!"). Sorry, I'm just completely cracking myself up this morn. Anyway, what I meant to say is that the pick-up truck driver-dude saw me boppin around, & I know he thought I was silly, but at least for an instant he wasn't all worried about his day. And that's kinda cool.

Ok, so back to my Gay Christmas music. Now, don't get all 'huffy-puffy-whaddya-mean-gay-music'. I'm not sayin it in a bad way at all. There's diff types of music. Let's all face it. Esp w/ Christmas. There's the breathy Christmas music (ie, 'Santa Baby', & any Christmas song done by Christina Aguilera). There's the sentimental stuff (ie, Nat King Cole or Bing Crosby).

And then there's what I was listening to this morn. Christmas music written by George Michael. Actually, it was 2-fold gay, cause not only is it George Michael music (which I love, love, LOVE; btw); but it's also a version of his song that's sung by 2 gay-homosexuals. Yes, I know it's redundant to say gay-homosexual, but that's just how I roll.

It's the little things I do that crack myself up. I do tend to amuse myself. Like, one of my fave things to do is to mix up numbers & letters when I'm making lists. I'll start off w/ the 1, 2, 3, then put down 'd'. It cracks me up! I know, it's silly, but I'm just a corny person who loves corny stuff. I also love Bob Newhart & his old funny records.

whoa! Riley's got a point!

NO WAY! I can't believe Riley actually made some sense here. He's not the deep thinker out of the two brothers. This whole video game controversy is completely out of control.
I live in a nice neighborhood; & the moms I hear on the local news, & on the radio calling in everytime a new game is released. It drives me mad, b/c if you don't want your son to play it, DON'T BUY IT. Ppl, control your children! Don't have a hissy fit, & waste programming time to complain about something that is completely under your control.

Movies that are 'rated R' are restricted to 17 & up, right? Well, the games have ratings on them too. Teach your kids to respect you. If you say no to something, that means no. I don't understand what the prob is. I'm sick of kids running rampant.

Also, I'm sick of the moms calling in & complaining about the video games being so violent; when I know the kids in her neighborhood do a ton of drugs. Seriously, ppl, get your priorities straight. She'll call in, & say she's from so & so neighborhood; a well-to-do neighborhood where the kids raid their parents medicine cabinets & have pharming parties.

Have y'all heard of the pharming parties? The kids have a party at someone's house. Everyone invited brings their own prescription drugs, & their parent's prescriptions, sometimes their grandparents if they get a chance to raid their medi-cabinet too. At the party, there's a huge empty 'punch bowl' on the coffee table in the living room. Everyone empties their drugs into this. As you walk by it, you just pick up a pill or two & pop it. No one knows what they're taking. They just take it, combine it w/ whatev else, & wait to see what happens.

Anyway, I think many other things are more important than complaining about video games, that have a rating on them anyway. God forbid parents actually have to talk to their kids & get to know them as human beings. Geez ppl, get to know your kids & find out who their friends are. Find out which friends are the punks (b/c we all know there's gonna be some punks). You can't choose their friends or tell them which ones they can't be friends w/, but you can talk to them have an influence in their lives. Ya hear?

halp.

Have you guys seen this? It's a group of Minnesota National Guard soldiers in Iraq. This was a humorous response to what Kerry had said to a group of college students. That if they don't study & do their homework, they're likely to get stuck in Iraq.

He later apologized saying that it was a botched joke. Well, these soldiers seem very clever to me; & here is an example of an unbotched joke. haha.

PhotoFriday: destruction

Viewer discretion advised!!! Please re-direct yourself to another site if you cannot handle extreme pics of car-crashes.

This is a pic of the destruction that was left behind from a major car pile-up accident that happened IN my living room last summer. Yes, folks, actually happened in my living room. I watched it all happen before mine very eyes. It was absolutely horrendous.

But let this serve as a warning to you all. This is what happens when ppl are talking on the phone, trying to turn up the radio, do the crossword puzzle, AND digging in their bag for their pretend microphone so they can sing along to the awesome song that’s on. Oh, you mean you don’t keep a pretend microphone in your car? It’s just me? Er, I mean, I don’t have one either. I’ve just heard. Yeah, that’s it.

But you guys do keep an extra water gun in your car for when ppl annoy you, or if you get bored & wanna do a “water drive-by”, right? Oh, well ... me neither then.

Don't forget to click ici pour voir les images de plus de photofriday. 'Kay?

radar comes back Sept. 5th

Guess what?!? Radar's not dead!

They're gonna re-launch the website September 5th; then the mag itself is set to return next year.

I did love the site, they were always informative & entertaining.

Here is an example of classic entertainment from their archives. It's a couple of excerpts from an feature titled "$tars for $ale", where they try to find out how much it'd cost to get Star Jones to participate in an eating contest, how much to get Anna Nicole Smith to down shots and drop Ecstasy at a country club gala. You know, fun stuff like that.

If you liked Sassy, you'd love Radar.

I do miss Sassy. I loved how the binding always had weird stuff on it. Like the endings of Chuck Lorre productions. I know I can read Jane now, & Jane Pratt's still in charge & all, but it's not the same; & ever since she had her baby, she seems more hands off now.

my motivational poster

As some of you may know, Liz has sent us this link (via email) &.... Wait. This seems like a good story-board story-time. Ready? Here we go.

I was sittin at work, doing work-type things. Ok, so I was really reading a mag, but it was an industry mag, so it totally counts. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but an email from my girl Liz. I call her Liz-gurl. I don’t know if y’all are allowed to though. She calls me a name that ends in ‘la’; it’s sing-songy. That’s a story for another day. Anyway, here’s the email:In case yous guys have forgotten how much I just love participating in these kinds of things, let me remind you of our fun-filled pig-drawrin days of yore. You can relive them here & here.

SO, of course, I was totally giddy & knew EXACTLY what my motivational poster creation would be. I don’t really think it needs any explanation, so here it is. A warning to all you kids out there. This is one of my dearest & oldest friends (oldest meaning I’ve known her forever, not oldest in age, folks). You can visit her site here; she’s also an artist, & so if you have good taste, you might want to check out her stuff yo.

And of course, you too can go here & create your very own motivational poster. Just don’t forget to send it to me, cause you know how much I love seein ‘em.

Go, create! If we can just help one kid, one child, then we will go to bed knowing that we’ve made a difference!

love thyself

Lately, it’s been so humid here, that my hair’s gone crazy. It’s just all over the place, & there’s nothing I can really do to control it. I know if I just cut (read: trim a quarter to half inch) it a little, it’ll be fine. But I’ve been waiting for this next weekend before I do. Cause I’m straightening it for two parties; & I don’t want to trim it & then damage perfectly good follicles. So, I’m waiting til after this weekend, so that whatever damage I do to my hair can just get cut off.

Point being, I’ve been a wreck about my hair lately. It’s really nice out & not as humid, & I’m having a good hair day for the 1st time in forever, & then I saw this:

Boondocks 7/23/2006
You'll have to click on the pic to enlarge & read

So, I'm trying now not to gripe about the things that make us who we are; & I thought I'd share, cause I know there's a lot of us (read: curly-haired gals) that do go through our hair probs & it bugs us. But I'm gonna think of it as fluffy clouds now. Even if it is cheesy.

pink elephant

There’s this woman at work. I’ve been working w/ her for over 3 years now. In the last 2 years, she’s seemed to put on weight; just a little weight, mind you. Well, in the last few months, she’s put on a bit more weight, & had developed an ever-increasing belly. A lot of times, women who find themselves w/ a bit of a belly try to hide it. Esp b/c they’re not used to having it, & they don’t really care for it. They do it more for themselves than for other ppl.

So, this woman. She’s been walking around w/ this belly now for the last 2 months. I just ignored it.

Oh, total sidenote: In my fam, they are not shy about mentioning these kinds of things. Once, I went to see my uncle after not seeing him for a year, & the 1st words out of his mouth were “Wow, it looks like you’ve put on some weight there? You need to exercise more.” No, I’m not kidding, you can’t make this stuff up. Oh, & btw, I’d gained about 10 pounds (maybe 8). And I wasn’t fat to start off w/. Yeah, they don’t like weight gain. But it’s better than my other uncle, who’s come to visit us from overseas, & hasn’t seen a lot of us in 15 years. He went to see my cousins, & mentioned how two of them had become “fatties”. So nonchalantly too. He’ll just say, “oh yeah, & we saw ‘so & so’ today, he’s turned into a bit of a fattie, hasn’t he?”, then ask when we were going to make his tea for his ‘4 pm tea-time’. B/c he doesn’t know how to make TEA!!! TEA, ppl!?!

Ok, back to the subject at hand. Yesterday, I saw her & she was wearing (what looked to me like) a pink maternity top. Now, I realize maybe she hasn’t been slingin back the Pabst Blue Ribbons. Maybe she’s pregnant. I mean, she’s married, young-ish, has a dog, & they just bought a house 2 years ago. No, I don’t know what the dog has to do w/ anything. At the time, I thought they’d moved into the house from the apt so that the dog had space to run around in. Now, it’s occurring to me that maybe they bought the house in preparation for a baby.

So, I still haven’t asked if she is or not. I don’t want to say anything about it, b/c what if she’s not? She’s a decent person. That, & the fact that when I request changes be made, she’s the person who decides what priority to give my requests; which in turn affects whether my requisitions are fulfilled in the next 48 hours or 8 months. Ok, more the latter reason; but still, I don’t want to hurt her feelings or upset her.

This is my current “pink elephant in the room & you can’t talk about it” situation. Literally & figuratively.

do you wanna headbutt?

did you wish that was you?

Well, here's your chance!

In this game, you can!

Yea for you!

I know my curly-/wavy-haired girls can totally relate to this.
